by Rebecca Farley on July 27, 2010

The Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources has announced the establishment of the Virginia Health Reform Initiative. The Initiative will be tasked with planning for the expansion of Medicaid, a move that is expected to increase Virginia’s Medicaid enrollment by over 150,000 and cost $1.5 billion from 2017-2022. HHR Secretary Bill Hazel announced that the initiative will also pursue reforms to ensure a safe, effective, and high quality health care delivery system while reducing costs.
