The National Council of State Legislatures has developed a summary guide to the state grant opportunities that are available through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The information provided in the guide includes:
- Title of the grant program;
- Citation for the enacting section within the law;
- Implementation date;
- Funding source;
- Matching requirements (if any); and
- A summary of the grant (including information on eligibility, duties and data collection).
In addition, the National Governors’ Association has published a working draft document outlining the major new programs and funding included in health reform. Of particular interest to behavioral health providers are the sections on Chronic Care Health Home Demonstration Projects (p. 7), Medicaid Money Follows the Person and Home- and Community-based Services (p. 4-5), and state workforce development grants (p. 11-12).
