Parity: Navigating the Appeals Process for Providers and Consumers

by Rebecca Farley on March 30, 2011

On Tuesday, March 29, from 3:30-5:00 pm eastern time, the National Council and the National Alliance on Mental Illness held the second webinar in our two-part series on Parity. Parity is law, but what happens when it is denied? Mental health and addictions treatment providers and consumers need to have an understanding of the appeals process to ensure that insurance companies are held accountable for complying with parity. This webinar offered valuable information on when you should appeal a denial, walked attendees through the appeals process, explained the information consumers are entitled to receive from the insurance company, and provided resources to help file a successful appeal.

The slides and recording from this webinar will soon be available online. The presentation and recording from the first webinar in the series, “What the Federal Parity Law Means for You,” are also available on the National Council’s website.
