National Council Submits Letter to President Obama in Support of Health Reform

by Rebecca Farley on February 17, 2011

The National Council this week submitted a letter to President Obama thanking him for his leadership in spearheading the passage and implementation of healthcare reform. The Affordable Care Act contains many provisions which will directly benefit individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders, including a broad expansion of Medicaid, grants for the co-location of behavioral and primary health care, Medicaid demonstration projects to integrate and coordinate care for individuals with multiple chronic conditions, and more. Our letter thanks the President for his work in securing passage of the bill and urges him to continue pushing for a meaningful implementation process, so as to better ensure access to high-quality, cost-effective care for all Americans.
