With the nation set to exceed its statutory debt limit on August 2, Congress is currently debating a massive package of spending cuts amounting to over $2 trillion. On the table during negotiations are substantial cuts to Medicaid and a proposed restructuring of the program to convert it to a block grant. What would be the impact of a Medicaid block grant on community mental health and addictions providers? Could this proposal actually become law?
