With the nation set to exceed its statutory debt limit on August 2, Congress is currently debating a massive package of spending cuts amounting to over $2 trillion. On the table during negotiations are substantial cuts to Medicaid and a proposed restructuring of the program to convert it to a block grant. What would be the impact of a Medicaid block grant on community mental health and addictions providers? Could this proposal actually become law?

Join National Council President and CEO Linda Rosenberg as she discusses how block-granting Medicaid would harm providers – and what YOU can do to fight back.

Question 1: How would a block grant and subsequent cuts to Medicaid impact mental healthcare and addictions services?

Question 2: How will the block grant effect individual states and their delivery of behavioral health services to our most vulnerable citizens?

Question 3: Can you give examples of successful advocacy efforts?

Question 4: Are there real threats to Medicaid or is it all just a lot of hype?

Question 5: What can one person do in the face of such drastic cuts to Medicaid?

We hope these answers from Linda were helpful to you as you wade through the implications and realities of the Medicaid cuts.  Please leave your thoughts and questions in the comments section below as Linda will be following the blog over the next week and will respond to your questions in the comment box below. Thanks for watching and for making a difference.

So-how does one play the video and find Linda’s answers to the questions. ????????? I only see five big blank areas (one after each question)–need directions or a simple point and click or a wizard. Thanks.
