National Council Now Accepting Applications for 2012 Same Day Access Multistate Initiative

by Rebecca Farley on May 21, 2012

The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare is pleased to accept applications for the 2012 Same Day Access Multistate Initiative. This exciting initiative is an opportunity for community behavioral health organizations to design and implement strategies that will result in efficient access-to-treatment processes.

By taking part in this initiative, participating organizations will be provided with the tools necessary to assess current intake and assessment processes and re-design to reduce client wait times, develop cost effective intake and assessment forms, implement strategies such as centralized scheduling and concurrent documentation in order to increase treatment capacity, and better engage clients resulting in the reduction of no-show and cancel rates. Participating organizations will receive the benefit of consultation by MTM Services, have the opportunity to establish a Same Day Access model, and develop a standardized process flow that will minimize staff and client time.

The National Council will be selecting approximately 50 community behavioral healthcare organizations (CBHOs) that are members of the National Council from various states to participate in this 12 month initiative. Each group of CBHOs will identify a State Lead who will be responsible for coordinating the application process. Please note: eligible State Leads that may apply for this initiative are state/regional associations and/or informal collaboratives of CBHOs that jointly agree to submit an application on behalf of the collaborative.

Organizations will be chosen for participation by the National Council through a competitive application process. Participation is limited to National Council members. Applications are due by June 6, 2012. For more information, please review the application packet or visit our website at

If you have any questions about this opportunity, please read our Same Day Access FAQs or contact Kirsten Reed (, 202-684-7457 ext. 234).
