March 1 Webinar: What the Federal Parity Law Means for You

On Tuesday, March 1, the National Council and the National Alliance on Mental Illness held a webinar on the federal Mental Health Parity and Addictions Equity law. This law was enacted in 2008 and went into effect for most employer-sponsored insurance plans on Jan. 1, 2011. This webinar provided a general overview of the parity law and its effect on providers and consumers. Participants learned the basics of the law, the terms, classifications of benefits, and how to identify whether a particular plan is covered by the law.

About the Presenters:


Chuck Ingoglia, Vice President, Public Policy at the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, and Andrew Sperling, Director of Federal Legislative Advocacy at the National Alliance on Mental Illness, walked providers and consumers through the parity law and provided answers to commonly asked questions.
