Electronic Health Record Certification 101

by Rebecca Farley on March 1, 2011

Core Solutions, Inc. has published a new resource about electronic health record certification for behavioral health services. “Certified EHR for Behavioral Healthcare: The Path to Payment” provides a history and current status of vendor certification, including a new Behavioral Health certification. It also offers clear examples of how behavioral health providers can take advantage of the meaningful use incentives through the Medicare or Medicaid programs.

From this new resource:

While information technology is just one facet of healthcare reform, it is one of the most innovative ways to improve quality of care and streamline the way data is recorded and reported. With a bill on the table (H.R. 5040) that would extend incentives to behavioral healthcare providers, it is important they know what is required in order to receive them and why it is necessary to act now.

The report also covers information about certified technology, eligible providers, and meaningful use standards that providers must meet in order to receive incentive payments for their use of health IT.

Additional information about behavioral health and health information technology can be found on the HIT page of our website and the HIT section of this blog.
